Holocaust Website-pbs.org

The title of the site is "Nazi Gold" in reference to switzerlands wartime efforts as a neutral country and the role that it played as Nazi Germany's banker. During WW2 Germany came across several billions in dollars and gold, hiding it as the war went on for future retreival. The official title of the team looking for it was "The US and allied forces" and they spent seven months retrieving virtually nothing, because they could not find it. It is said that long after the wars end, the Swiss kept the majority of the Germans plundered wealth for themselves. The entire contriversy started when the question of whether or not being nuetral let alone assisting Germany with financial efforts is morally right or wrong. To put a long story into short form the swiss had an official seven page document come out in responce to alligations titled "Declaration of the Swiss federal council" which adressed all of the above as they tried to free themselves from any guilt.

Pictures from Concentration camps

I went to one of the links sent to us by Professor Tortorro and i saw several images from concentration camps during the holocaust. The Jewish prisoners; men, women, and children all look out of the photo as if it was a way of escape or release from the harsh realities of their own world. The book Night gives vivid detail as to the harsh and torturous conditions of the holocaust although a mental picture from reading is different than actually seeing real images. The reality of certain tragic stories lining the pages of our history books becomes so much more intense as you look into the lives of holocaust prisoners.
